Theresa (Reska) Sersen

October 15, 1932 – September 6, 2023

Our beloved mother died peacefully on the morning of Wednesday September 6.

She is survived by her children Mary Anne (Steven) and Ernie (Janice); her sister Frances (Frank) in Toronto; Tilka, Tone (Ani), Kristina, Silva, Janes (Stefka), Joze (Marija) and Marta in Slovenia. Theresa was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada, USA and Slovenia. She is predeceased by her husband Fred (1963); parents Anton and Marija Komatar; sisters Manca, Toncka and Lojska.

Theresa was a loving step-grandmother to Holly (Patrick), Graeme (Nazanin), Robyn, Nickalas (Jessica), Kassady (Benoit), Grant, Rebecca and Amy. She was also proud to be step-great grandmother to Gwen and Aoife, Arthur and Alice, Abel, and Landyn. Mom embraced them into her life with love and joy, and cherished the times they would spend together.

When our father died in 1963 Mom took over the operation of the fruit farm while raising us herself. It was through her sheer determination, strong work ethic, strength, intelligence and pure will that she managed to become a first rate farmer for over 40 years. Mom worked very, very hard. She was proud of her farm but more importantly it meant everything to her to be able to give us a wonderful childhood and strong launch into adulthood. She succeeded with flying colours!

We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caring staff at Vineland UMH Garden Lane where Mom spent the last few months of her life.

We are planning for a joyful celebration of Theresa’s life at a future date. Theresa will be buried at the Vineland Cemetery after a private family funeral on September 11.

Mom, we love you so much and we will miss you every day forever. Rest in peace.
